Our Team

 

Vivian Boakye, President, worked as a Community Liaison for Fairfax County Public Schools. For more than 13 years, she provided community and school resources to families who were new to the County. She has immense knowledge of programs and resources and has established successful collaborations with many different service providers. In her years with the school system, she worked closely with the African Community to bridge the cultural gap difference between parents and teachers. She speaks Spanish and Twi and is a strong advocate for the West African Community.

George Kwasi Bright, Vice President, is the editor and publisher of the Afrikan Post Newspaper, a community based newspaper that circulates all over the United States. George has been in the media business for the past 10 years and has covered international events ranging from presidential visits to the white house, and events relating to Africa on capitol hill.

 

George holds a graduate diploma in Purchasing and supply from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and supply management in UK. As an IT expert he has certifications in A+ computer repairs, Microsoft certified systems engineering (MCSE) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) under his sleeve.  He also graduated from the Devry University with a BSc In Information technology.

 

George is a co publisher of a book on US Ghana relations spanning a period of 50 years.

 

Kwame Ahenkorah Osei-Agyepong, Treasurer, is the Co-Founder and current VP of NGOZI which collaborates with other groups to organize events and raise funds for charity projects. NGOZI's signature event is the annual 'Baffour Soccer Charity Tournament' in Northern Virginia. 

Kwame is a Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the State of Virginia and Washington D.C and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers pursuing his career as the Geotechnical Department Manager for the Manassas Branch of ECS Mid-Atalantic, where he has worked for over a 11 years.

Kwame holds a BSc Civil Engineering Degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.

Adoma Adae, Events Secretary,  is founder of Dark IS Lovely Mentoring, a young girls and women's program that encourages young girls to women to love themselves how they are and inspires women to encourage one another to be the best that they can be.  She was motivated to start this program after meeting women who bleached their skin as a result of low self esteem and low confidence. Her goal is to help fight against the colorism issue that still exists, and help women understand that loving yourself is key to success. With her passion for event planning and interest in Women’s issues, she is able to host a variety of events that young girls and women benefit from.

 

She graduated from  Longwood University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing. She currently resides Alexandria, VA and  works for the Department of State in Washington, D.C.

 

Mrs. Vivian Tutu, Assistant Secretary, is a Behavior Therapist for autistic individuals. In this capacity, she provides intensive in-home therapy to behaviorally challenged clients.  Prior to that, she worked for the State of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Service (DBHDS) for over 15 years as Psychology Associate.

Vivian obtained her BS degree in Psychology from George Mason University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education (Special Ed) degree from the same university. In addition, she is also a candidate for the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCAB) Certification.

 

Mary Omari, Assistant Treasureris a Registered Nurse with over 15 years’ experience working with INOVA HEALTH SYSTEMS (currently at Fairfax Hospital). Mary obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at George Mason University (BSN) and has since worked in many RN roles from serving as a Charge Nurse in Medical/Oncology, Infusion Clinic, Intermediate Care Units (floors) and Home Health Care.  Mary also has extensive experience mentoring and coaching new graduates and nurses. She is licensed in the State of Virginia.
