2015 "Be Great" Youth Summit was a GREAT success

The West African Community Collaborative (WACC) in partnership with Fairfax County and the Edusei foundation, produced a successful youth summit at Mount Vernon Highschool on April 18, 1015.
Students were given tools and resources necessary to be successful in high school and navigate the college application process. Workshops included "Ready, Set, Goals!" "College Bound, or nah?" "Tackling the college essay with ease" and "Too African and too American? Finding the common ground." The event was capped with a motivating speech by Sylvia Bello from the Cameroon American Council; an organization with a mission to get Africans working on Capitol Hill and engaged in the political process.

Participants were treated to a special dance performance and prizes too. One student walked away with a brand new laptop computer grand prize. Internet sensation comedian Ebaby Koby and gospel stars Eric and Yaw Owusu stopped by with a few words of encouragement for summit participants.

WACC made this event possible through Fairfax County's Neighborhood Enhancement Programs grant and the Edusei Foundation.
